Heating

Heating is not only one of our core competencies, it’s in our name!

Denommee Plumbing, Heating and Cooling has been providing expert heating system installation and service to our customers across Massachusetts and New Hampshire for over 20 years. We are big believers in education—the more you know the further you will go— for our technicians and for our customers alike. Understanding the basics can help you to make informed decisions about your own heating system and be better equipped to provide us with correct information to help us get you the exact help you need when you need it. To that end, we offer this quick primer on central heating systems.

Nearly all households depend on a central heating system to provide warmth. In a nutshell, the two primary systems are furnaces and boilers. Furnaces heat air, while boilers heat water. Denommee Plumbing, Heating & Cooling installs and services all brands of forced air furnaces, boilers and heat pump systems throughout eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.

Base Components

Central heating systems are comprised of three basic components; the heat source, the heat distribution system and the control system. If your heating system is not working properly, one of these basic components is likely the source of the problem.

Heat Distribution

Heat distribution systems typically can be sorted into five types; forced air systems, radiant heating, steam radiant, hot water baseboard and electric baseboard. Each delivery system has pros and cons.

Lochinvar Noble Boiler CouponAs your local Lochinvar VIP contractor, we are your expert resource for installation and service of these top-in-class boilers. The Lochinvar Noble combi boiler features a next-generation fire tube design that can provide hot water supply and space heating faster and more efficiently than ever before—a marvel of a money-saving solution that can deliver both immediate hot water and comfortable home heating.

Efficiency

What is efficiency and why does it matter? Efficiency of fossil-fuel furnaces and boilers is the measure of the amount of heat produced per unit of input energy (fuel). Combustion efficiency is the simplest measure; that is merely the system’s efficiency while running. Think of combustion efficiency like the miles per gallon your car gets cruising along at highway speed.

EffiencyIn the U.S., furnace efficiency is measured by minimum AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency). AFUE estimates seasonal efficiency, averaging peak, as well as part-load situations. AFUE is like your car mileage between fill-ups, including both highway driving and stop-and-go traffic. The higher the AFUE, the more efficient the furnace or boiler. As an example, the best gas furnaces and boilers have efficiencies well over 90%.

Choosing A Heating System

Before you replace your heating system, consider the following and then schedule a free consultation with us at Denommee Plumbing, Heating and Cooling.

Cost, of course, is another consideration. The initial cost of a system, as well as the operational and maintenance costs all should be taken-into-account when evaluating the true cost of ownership for a given system. Throw in state sponsored energy rebates and manufacturer incentives, the upfront cost for a new higher-efficiency system can be much lower than expected.  As an example, a higher efficiency heat pump system may see the higher the initial costs, but the operating and maintenance costs are lower than other systems, bringing the true cost of ownership down. At Denommee Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, we have experts in these state rebate programs and manufacturer incentives that can help you maximize your savings while getting improved comfort for your home.
